We had a great time today for the Acorns and Oaks at Stoneridge Farm! Today was wet but it was perfect because we were exploring what lives in the water today.
The story today was called All the Water in the World" by George Ella Lyon. How do you use water? To drink or to clean. It is hard to imagine all of the water in the world and that some people don't have a lot of water to drink. We are blessed with so much water here in Perth County.
As we hiked down the trail to Crayfish Catch, we looked for things that don't belong in the forest. What kind of things did Dragonfly put out on the trail? What colour was the ball? How many things did you find? What was the hardest thing to find? Did you see anything else as we hiked?
At Crayfish Catch, we got out the nets and buckets to go exploring in the creek. Water exploration can be fun but it can also be dangerous. Parents kept a close watch as their children went into the water. Just splashing around and getting wet outside with your clothes on was a new experience for most and a few children got a little wet. How did your child react to getting wet? How did you, as a parent, react?
What did your child find in the water? What did they like the most about being at Crayfish Catch? Did they experience any feelings of sadness? This was a positive outdoor experience for many. Keeping it positive and safe is very important in the early years.
Special thanks to Chickadee and Ladybug for their help today! Happy Trails till next week!
