We Join Together!

The Turtles began their day with sharing some connections to fall. What connection do you have to the season of fall?  Having just had Thanksgiving, the day also focussed on gratitude and thankfulness. this was fresh in our minds. We all were thankful to have Willow (Sherrie) with us while Cardinal was away on vacation.  We look forward to hearing a story from Cardinal next week!

Our Tree Friends in Mystery Forest had a good visit with their Turtle Friends. There are a dozen special trees in Mystery Forest which have someone to watch and care for them over the next year. Today, we learned the type of tree we were taking care of and if they had leaves or needles.  What type of tree is your Tree Friend?  Does it have needles or leaves? What did you name it?  To help us remember our trees we put a special ‘tree cookie’ on them with their name. We met everyone’s trees today on the tree tour.  What did you use to make a cozy spot to sit by your tree?

Thank you Grey Squirrel for reading to us. The book was full of ideas on how to be thankful. What are some things you are thankful for? Grey Squirrel also provided materials and showed us how to make a little pouch.. Have you decided what to put in your pouch?

Thanks to Ladybug for joining us in the afternoon. We made another trip to Mystery Forest for a Thanksgiving celebration of our own. This time we had some extra materials to help with making the feast. The Mud Kitchen was open for business and everyone had a job.  What was your job?  What did you make for our Thanksgiving celebration?  What did I find in the ‘chicken pot pie’? Good thing I washed it down with some Salt and Pepper Water or was it the Lemonade I drank?  Thanks for the muffins, Red Fox, the salad made by Monarch and the pie made by Black Bear.  Thanks to all who carved out the black, white and brown chicken and, of course, the orange turkey!

The day ended with a pop!  What was popping?  How long did it take for the kernels to start popping?  How long did it take for the ‘waterfall of popcorn’ to start falling?  What did we have to do to get the kernels ready for popping?

What did you wonder about at the end of the day?  How did the grub (larvae) get into the wood?  What are the Tree Friends doing when we aren’t around?  Why do the logs have different colour wood inside?  So many great questions!  See you next week Forest Friends:).
