Looking for Spring

The Turtles are still looking for signs of spring! Our special guest today was Ant Man (Robert) and he told us this time of year is a good time to take tree cuttings. It is hard to believe but the best time to take cuttings from a tree and shrub is before they show us their leaves. Ask your child(ren) about the parts of a tree? Do they remember the steps to take a tree cutting that Ant Man walked us through? What types of trees do they remember from today? Tree Words from today include Roots, Stem, Bark, Bud and Cambium. Can your child(ren) remember why these Tree Words are important?
As we continue to notice signs of spring, the water freezing and then thawing again, the birds on the mud in the water, we wondered what the birds will be doing next? We checked out our nests that we made last week. The wind and the weather had caused some of them to break up or fall down to the ground. Did your child(ren) have to fix their nest? Today, we added our clay eggs to them. Did your child(ren)’s egg fit in their nest? When an egg hatches, it is called a hatchling. Did your child(ren) find a warm spot in the nest for their ‘hatchling’?
There was so much more to our learning today! Here are some pictures and have your child(ren) tell you the story.
