Seeds are secretive, sleepy, inventive and hopefully fruitful - BUT - there are many dangers out there! Talk about our morning game and share your successes and battles with the lawnmowers. What are we planning to add as new rules next week (3 seeds - get a sprout, lawn mower can be beaten!). It's fun to stretch our games to add new ideas about the way the world might work.
There are farms all around the pond conservation area. What crops are growing there now and what might they be used for? We saw cattle corn, soybeans, and winter wheat. The wheat looks like green grass and will probably be plowed back into the soil to make it more fertile.
Some beans got left on the field and sprouted. Did you take one home to plant and water?
Beaver was with us every step of the way. She just looked a little different. What did Beaver do along with our group today? Did you get a chance to hang out with her? We retold the story of what happened to Beaver’s arm, can you remember it and add a happy ending? This Beaver will definitely NOT be playing Blackbird Ball!
What crops do farmers mostly grow around southwestern Ontario? What seeds did you collect for your seed candle? (Beans and corn and wheat for a few students) How many days should you wait before taking off the outside of the candle? ( 3 days)
In Mystery Forest, Greenery Walnut Pie and Nature Shiskabobs were created in the mystery kitchen. Water Bear had a booming broom making and appliance business. Coat racks were added to some tree spots. All set for future visits and sit spot time. What did you create?
During library time with Grey Squirrel we were busy beavers. We read a book about acorns and oak trees and made lots of cards and messages for Beaver to get better soon!
We always fit in time to have fun and for nature to surprise us. Share some of your tales.
See you under the canopy next week Forest Friends!
