The Acorns & Oaks did some exploring in the barn today at Stoneridge Farm. Starting with feeding the chickens and collecting the eggs. What did you feed the chickens? How many eggs did we collect altogether?
Coyote shared with us about the horses and how to behave around the horses. Do horses like loud noises? Do horses like getting their hair brushed? What do horses eat? Which horse is your favourite?
We ventured up the stairs to see where the hay and the straw are stored for the horses. Storytime was also in the hay loft. Did you like exploring in the hay loft?
In the arena, we looked for pigeon feathers and we even found a wooly bear caterpillar. It was also a time to try on a blindfold and feel some nature surprises. Some 'Acorns' didn't like putting on a blindfold so we had them just look up while their put one hand out to feel. Some also covered their eyes with their hands but that didn't work very well when you have to use your hand to feel. What felt squishy? What felt hard?
Outside there were so many leaves on the ground. It was hard not to make a big pile and jump into them. Of course, we played in the sand box and on the trail and with our friends! Thank you to Chickadee for all her help this fall! Happy Trails!
