Today at Stoneridge Farm, the Acorns & Oaks explored using our hands and fingers.
Feeding the chickens and visiting the horses. Jester, the horse, always loves the attention he gets with pets on the nose. Did you like petting the horses? How did it feel?
Brushing the horses hair helps keep them clean. How do you keep clean? Do you brush your hair or your parents hair? What you like best about the horse visit today?
While hiking, we looked and touched some of the plants growing along the trail. Sometimes leaves feel soft but sometimes they are crunchy. Sometimes plants look spikey but they are not, like wild cucumber. Sometimes plants look spikey and they do feel sharp and spikey like spruce tree. Using our eyes first to look helps us make a guess about what something might feel like.
Funny thing about the word feel. We can 'feel' in different ways. One way we feel is with our hands and fingers and the other way is with our heart. Our book today was called "My Heart Fills with Happiness" by Monique Gray Smith. What makes you feel happy?
Every time we play, we use our hands and feel. What did it feel like to play in the sand, make some mud pies, play with ball or explore on the trail?
Special thanks to Coyote who guided our horse time in the barn, not to mention all of the horses too! Happy Trails until next week Forest Friends!
